Our seven place Canadian Dehavilland Beaver and its big brother, the 10 place Single Otter are known as the "Canadian Bush planes", where use it to settle Northern Canada and Alaska and are still used extensively throughout Northern Canada and Alaska as air taxis, without them there would be no mode of transportation in the north. They are used for hauling mail, hunters, tourists, fisherman, freight, medical supplies, medical evacuation, and most of the local inhabitants. Because there are very few roads the need for these types of aircraft has risen over the last 20 years. Taking a seaplane to do your shopping in Northern Canada or Alaska has become like you taking a taxi to the local store in your home town (except a seaplane is easier to get !!! ).
